Open Heaven For Today 2022 Wednesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Dangerous Mixture

TOPIC: The Dangerous Mixture

MEMORISE: “And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” – 2 Corinthians 6:15 (KJV)

READ: Matthew 6:24 (KJV)

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 132-135

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

Many years ago, I travelled for a ministration. After I was done ministering, I got in my car but it refused to start. I called a mechanic to look at it and he discovered that the petrol I had bought into the car was mixed with water, hence he had to empty the tank and get rid of every particle of water in it then put pure petrol in it before I could move.

While I was waiting for him to finish working on the car a message hit me. The car could not move on a mixture of petrol and water, so also, many people don’t move forward in life because they are mixing light with darkness in their lives. Indeed, what fellowship has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)?

If you want God to multiply your finances, don’t mix stolen funds with your legitimate earnings. Once you start stealing money, forget about God’s blessings.

One day, a governor came to me for prayers towards his contest for a second term in office. God said to me that he would win and I told him. However, the elections came and he lost. It was absolutely clear that the election was rigged. I went back to God and said, “Lord, but you are the One who said this man would win; what happened?”

God told me to send for him and ask him what happened, because after he left the Redemption Camp, he went to have meetings with witches and people of the occult. God said He had already decided that he would win the election, but when he went to meet occultic people, He changed His mind, it still surprises me that as much as we have said that God hates sin, many people don’t understand it.

You cannot continue to sin and expect God’s grace to abound! God forbid! (Romans 6:1-2). If you want God to be involved in your life, stay away from anything He hates. Don’t lift up ‘holy’ hands in Church and then use the same mouth to tell lies. You are inviting God’s wrath that way.

If you want to serve the devil, serve him wholeheartedly rather than to try and serve God and the devil at the same time. If you want to serve God, you will have to hearken diligently to His word, and in return, He will give you abundant life. Don’t mix the two.

KEY POINT:

You cannot continue in sin and expects God’s grace to abound in your life. God forbids it!

HYMN 1: All To Jesus I Surrender

1 All to Jesus, I surrender,
All to Him I freely give,
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live

Refrain
I surrender all,
I surrender all,
All to Thee,
My blessed Saviour,
I surrender all

2 All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet i bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now,

3 All to Jesus, I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee,
Fill me with Thy love and power
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

4 All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame,
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His name.

Open Heaven For Today 2022 Tuesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Honour God

TOPIC: Honour God

MEMORISE: “Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” – 1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)

READ: Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV)

9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 125-131

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

In Mathematics, there is something we call Newton’s law of motion. A part of it states that for every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, whatever you sow, you will reap. Your behavior will determine what God will do in response.

That is why the Bible reading today says you should honour the Lord with your substance and then God will respond with so many blessings that your barn would burst out. Giving God offerings, giving Him your first fruit, that is, your first income in the year, is a sign to show Him that you honour Him. When you give it to Him, He is pleased with you and will respond by honouring you too.

The quality of your offering is also a sign that shows God, whether you honour Him or not. If a beggar should ask you for money, you may give him the smallest note in your pocket but if it is a wealthy man who asks you for money, you give him the highest because you are not giving it to help him, but rather to honour him. God knows how much money you have.

He is the One who gave it to you in the first place. The quality of the offering you give Him out of your substance will tell Him whether you honour Him or not. Believe me honestly, God pays close attention to the offering that you give. If you don’t believe me, read Mark 12:41-44.

He sat and was watching as everyone brought their offerings to the offering basket. As He watched them, He also scored them and the fellow who got the highest score was a poor widow, because she gave all she had – she honoured God. When God scores your offering, will He feel honoured or despised by what you are giving to Him?

Beloved, don’t ever do anything that can make God feel despised. The Most High God is not one to toy with at all. He may be a lamb, but He is also a lion. 1 Samuel 2:7 says:

“The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up”

As we like to say in Nigeria, the one who made the pencil also made the eraser. The One who made you rich can also make you poor. The One who lifted you can also bring you low. You must therefore, run away from anything that can make you despise or dishonour Him.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, whatever I can do to dishonour You, don’t let me ever do it Lord.

HYMN 19: O Worship The King

1 O worship the King,
All glorious above,
O gratefully sing
His power and His love;

Our Shield and Defender,
The Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendour,
And girded with praise.

2 O tell of His might,
O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light,
Whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath

The deep thunder-clouds form,
And dark is His path
On the wings of the storm.

3 Thy bountiful care,
What tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air,
It shines in the light,
It streams from the hills,

It descends to the plain,
And sweetly distils
In the dew and the rain.

4 Frail children of dust,
And feeble as frail;
In Thee do we trust,
Nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies, how tender,
How firm to the end,
Our maker, Defender,
Redeemer, and Friend!

5 O measureless Might!
Ineffable Love!
While angels delight
To hymn Thee above,

The humbler creation,
Though feeble their lays,
With true adoration,
Shall lisp to Thy praise.

Open Heaven For Today 2022 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Sin Of Ingratitude

TOPIC: The Sin Of Ingratitude

MEMORISE: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” – Psalm 103:2 (KJV)

READ: Deuteronomy 8:11-18 (KJV)

11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 120:124

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

A good study of the Scriptures will show you that probably the worst sin anyone can commit is that of ingratitude. Anyone who neither appreciates what has been done for him or her, nor knows how to show gratitude, cannot go far in life. When you read the story of the origin of sin in Genesis 3 in the Garden of Eden, you will see what I am talking about.

God gave man an entire garden. It wasn’t Adam who planted the garden. God had planted the garden and everything he would ever need was there. God then said He wanted to reserve just one tree for Himself. Man still went ahead and ate from that tree that was reserved for God. Therefore God said, “Well, if you don’t appreciate all the things in this garden, then maybe you should leave it and go out to fend for yourself”

In Malachi 3:8-10, where God says if you don’t bring all the tithes to His house, you are cursed, what He is actually saying is, “What is wrong with you? Whatever you have, I gave it to you. How come you can’t even say thank you with 10%?” When you read 1 Samuel 15 and compare it with 1 Samuel 10, you will see why God was so angry with King Saul.

“When I wanted to appoint you king, you yourself said ‘Me of all people? My tribe is the smallest in Israel, my family is the smallest in my tribe, I am the smallest in my family and you want to make me a king”? Saul even went to hide because he himself saw that he was nothing. Now, God sent him on a mission and he didn’t carry out the instructions of the Lord.

When the man of God came to talk to him in 1 Samuel 15 he reminded him that he was small even in his own eyes; how come he had now become so big that he had forgotten the One who promoted him? If you wait for God to remind you of His benefits towards you, then you are in trouble.

However, if you make it a duty to always appreciate Him for His benefits in your life, then you will keep going higher and higher. David in our memory verse for today said he would never forget God’s benefits towards him. That is why he kept rising until he became father to the King of kings.

The elders in Africa have a saying that when you have done good to someone and the fellow is ungrateful, it is as if you have been attacked by an armed robber. Don’t let God see you as an armed robber.

REFLECTION:

Make a list of all the benefits of God in your life and thank Him specially for each of them.

HYMN 15: Now Thank We All Our God

1 Now thank we all our God,
With hearts, and hands and voices;
Who wondrous things hath done,

In Whom His world rejoices;
Who, from our mother’s arms,
Hath bless’d us on our way
With countless gifts to love
And still is ours to-day.

2 O may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever-joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,

And keep us in His grace
And guide us when perplexed,
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next.

3 All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Him who reigns
With them in the highest heaven

The One, Eternal God,
Whom earth and heaven adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

Open Heaven For Today 2022 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Whatsoever Things Are Of Praise

TOPIC: Whatsoever Things Are Of Praise

MEMORISE: “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” – Psalm 34:1 (KJV)

READ: Philippians 4:8, Psalm 34:1-5 (KJV)

Philippians 4:8:
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Psalm 34:1-5:
1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 119:121-176

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

Probably the greatest thoughts any man can have are those of praise to God – when you just sit and begin to think of this great God and how marvellous He is. It is such thoughts that yielded names like “Greater than the greatest, Stronger than the strongest, Richer than the richest, Wiser than the wisest, Older than the oldest” which I call God today.

It is such thoughts that result in some of the wonderful songs of praise that musicians sing. Like one of my daughters who sang about how big God is in Yoruba and said, “Gbangba Gbanga”. Such are the kinds of thoughts that every child of God should have.

Some people are angry with God because they feel He did not show up for them when they needed Him, but how can you be angry with your Maker? Isaiah 45:9 says:

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

I laugh most times when I hear people give God ultimatums to do their bidding. If He doesn’t do what you want, what can you do? Will you charge Him to court? Who will rule against the King of kings? In our memory verse for today, David said he would bless the Lord at ALL times.

This means that, whether in sorrow or happiness, plenty or lack, life or death, he would continue to bless the Lord. He also said in Psalm 71:20 that even though he had been through many sorrows, he knew that God would raise him again.

Today, I want you to put aside all your troubles and just think of how great God is. Look for a notebook and write down some of your thoughts of praise for Him. You can even share some of these thoughts with other people around you and discuss the greatness of our God. Let thoughts of praise to this Mighty God fill your heart all the time.

KEY POINT:

You can’t fight the Maker of heaven and earth; praise Him instead.

HYMN 19: O Worship The King All-Glorious Above

1 O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,

Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

whom angels delight to worship above!

in true adoration shall sing to your praise

Open Heaven For Today 2022 Saturday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Whatsoever Things Are Of Virtue

TOPIC: Whatsoever Whatsoever Things Are Of Virtue

MEMORISE: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:…” – Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)

READ: Philippians 4:8, James 1:21-25 (KJV)

Philippians 4:8:
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

James 1:21-25:
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 119:65-120

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

One age-old trick that the devil has been using to get people to commit sin is to put thoughts and imaginations of sin in their minds. The more a person thinks about a sinful act, the closer he or she gets to committing the sin in reality. This is why the Bible says that we should only think of things that are of virtue.

Virtue refers to good behaviour. If you keep imagining yourself misbehaving and doing things that are contrary to the will of God, you are likely to end up doing those things in reality. You are therefore to guide your heart with all diligence and ensure that things that have no virtue do not stay there.

If you have been having thoughts of committing adultery, stealing some money from your workplace and so on, kill those thoughts immediately. Every time the devil comes to whisper sinful thoughts in your ears, say, “Get thee behind me Satan” and then replace the sinful thoughts with virtuous ones.

Other ways through which the devil brings thoughts that have no virtue into our minds are through the television programmes we watch, the conversations we have with friends and colleagues, and the kinds of music we listen to.

When you expose your mind to television shows that promote perversion or things that have no virtue, your mind will naturally think about those things and soon, you would find yourself acting them out. That is why 1 Corinthians 15:33 says “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners”

Some virtuous thoughts you should entertain include:

  • The word of God. In fact, Joshua 1:8 says you should meditate on the word of God day and night. In other words, let the word of God occupy your mind all the time. David said “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). If you memorise God’s word and meditate on it day and night, you will not sin against Him. The virtue in His word will keep you from falling into sin.
  • How to win souls to the Kingdom of God.
  • What to do to advance His Kingdom here on earth.

As you think, so you will become (Proverbs 23:7).

KEY POINT:

Don’t think or imagine yourself doing anything bad. Always imagine yourself doing good things and acting according to the will of God.

HYMN 14: Nearer, My God To Thee

1 Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

2 Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I’d be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

3 There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

4 Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

5 Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Open Heaven For Today 2022 Friday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Whatsoever Things Are Of Good Report

TOPIC: Whatsoever Things Are Of Good Report

MEMORISE: “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.” – Mark 5:36 (KJV)

READ: Philippians 4:8, Mark 5:22-42 (KJV)

Philippians 4:8:
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Mark 5:22-42:
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 119:1-64

Open Heaven For Today 2022 MESSAGE:

A report is the result of an action or event. There are good reports and there are bad reports: God is telling you today to think only on good report. In Mark 5:25-34, we read the story of the woman with the issue of blood.

The doctors had given her a negative report that she was going to die in her sickness. However, she had heard many reports about how Jesus healed people of their sicknesses and diseases. She had a choice of whose report she would focus on – the report of the doctors or that of Jesus’ power.

Thank God she focused on the good report of Jesus’ healing power and she got her miracle. In Mark 5:36, someone came to give Jairus a bad report that his daughter was dead. Jesus told him to ignore that report and only believe that of the Lord. He focused on Jesus’ report and his daughter lived. The report you think on will determine the result you get.

Many a time, you may get scared of trying something because somebody tried it and failed. If you keep thinking about the people who failed at it, then the result will be failure. God says “Think on the good reports, not the bad reports”.

Someone might have passed through what you are passing through now and did not succeed, but other people experienced the same thing and they overcame; think of those ones who made it. Even if you don’t know anyone around you who has passed through that particular experience successfully, look into the good report of God’s word. I am certain that your case is mentioned in the Bible and the report is a good one.

There is a popular song by the legendary singer Dr. Ron Kenoly where the lead singer calls: “Whose report will you believe?” Everyone responds: “We shall believe the report of the Lord. His report says I am healed, His report says I am filled, His report says I am free, His report says victory!” Kill the thoughts of bad reports and focus on the good ones so that you can have victory!” Kill the thoughts of bad reports and focus on the good ones so that you can have victory.

Christ in you is indeed the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). You are guaranteed a glorious future if you remain steadfast in Christ Jesus. Focus on this good report.

KEY POINT:

The report you think on will determine the result you will get.

HYMN 13: My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less

1 My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

2 When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.

3 His oath, his covenant, his blood,
support me in the whelming flood;
when all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay.
