Kierra Sheard-Kelly and J. Drew Sheard II Win BMI’s “Songwriter of the Year” Award

Two Grammy-nominated brothers and sisters, Kierra Sheard-Kelly & J. Drew Sheard II are the first B.M.I siblings to gain the highest honor of the program, ‘Songwriter of the Year’ in the gospel category in the 2022 Trailblazers of Gospel Award hosted on. Nashville, TN.

The two were awarded for their writing on the top songs on the chart, ‘It Keeps Happening’ by Sheard-Kelly, and “His Love” by The Legendary Clark Sisters.

Asked how he felt about Sheard Kelly’s amazing achievements, “It sounds like a lot of success! It’s all worth it! ” He continues, “It is a blessing to grow up, to continue our activities together, and to be known as successive siblings.

It is a blessing to know that someone else sees the value of our songs and efforts. The information by our publishing company, B.M.I, which includes millions of other intelligent writers, is more than special and inspiring. Thank you! ”

This marks the second year that songwriter / songwriter J. Drew Sheard II receiving the award. Last year Sheard II won her “Victory” work with the Clark Sisters on their latest album, “The Return”.

Asked about the milestone, Sheard II said, “Wow this is surreal! I am very grateful to B.M.I for this honor, and sharing it with my sister, makes this time even more meaningful. ” He continues, “I would like to thank the authors Kierra Sheard, Faith Evans, Snoop Dogg, The Clark Sisters, and other writers who assisted me in these records.
