Pistol 2022: Pistol is a biographical miniseries drama created by Craig Pearce of FX. The series was announced in January 2021, directed by Danny Boyle. Shown on FX in Hulu on May 31, 2022.
In the mid-1970s London economically depressed, Steve Jones is a homeless young man trying to form a rock band. A talented thief steals musical instruments from Hammersmith Odeon. Steve meets fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who allows her to borrow her lavish outfits from her grocery store, SEX. His love and business partner, Malcolm McLaren, decides to manage the team. Steve pursues Chrissie Hynde, though he is in love with music critic Nick Kent. Chrissie has her ambitions to become an artist. When Steve enters Odeon again, he is arrested and pleads guilty.
However, Malcolm testifies that Steve is a good man and a promising worker, who protects him from imprisonment. Steve is surprised Malcolm insists on him, as he has never had anyone to support him before. Malcolm renames the band “Kutie Jones and his Sex Pistols” and is planning their first concert. During the play, Steve has a panic attack on the stage and runs out of space. Steve admits to drummer Paul Cook that he has low self-esteem.
SEX Boutique employee Jordan goes to work in a sturdy punk fashion, which includes a light top, and makes casual people around him feel uncomfortable. However, Steve loves his confidence. Malcolm made Steve the band’s new guitarist and fired his first guitarist, Wally Nightingale. The big problem is that Steve can’t play. Malcolm hires new artist John Lydon. John says he may join the group if it is renamed “Sex Pistols.” Chrissie meets Mick Jones, but their musical interactions fail. Malcolm rents a warehouse as a practice area on Denmark Street.

Steve starts to sit there, picks up a lot of speed, and teaches himself to play the guitar in five days. During a group meeting, Steve names Johnny “Johnny Rotten” with his bad teeth. As a result, John asks Sid Vicious to join the band so he can have a friend to hang out with. Bassist Glen Matlock is planning a gig at Saint Martin’s School of Art, where he is studying. Sid introduces himself to Malcolm, and Vivienne believes he can be a good one. Sex Pistols insists on using their amp in the guitar, infuriating the lead band and leading to controversy. The episode is about Jordan, who died a month before the broadcast.
