Kung Fu 2021 Season 2 Episode 1-12: Kung Fu is an American karate-adventure television series first shown in The CW on April 7, 2021. As it is now, it is a adaptation of the 1970s series of the same title. Produced by Warner Bros. Television, as was the case with the first series and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.
Major producers include Christina M. Kim (CW series developer), Ed Spielman (creator of the first series), Greg Berlanti, Martin Gero, Robert Berens, and Sarah Schechter. It is one of the few American network dramas that will feature many Asian American actors, including veteran actor Tzi Ma.
In May 2021, the series was relaunched for the second season which was first shown on March 9, 2022. On March 2022, the series was relaunched for the third season.
In September 2017, it was reported that Greg Berlanti and Wendy Mericle formed a women-led re-launch of the Fox series. In October 2018, it was announced that Sleepy Hollow producer Albert Kim was developing the series and that Fox had provided the project with driver’s commitment.
In November 2019, it was announced that the resume has moved to CW – home of several Arrowverse shows, all produced by Berlanti – and will be written by Christina M. Kim and Martin Gero. The series received an experimental order by the network. It was announced on May 12, 2020, that CW had offered Kung Fu a series order; a poster with Liang and social media accounts was launched on the same day.
This is the third attempt to reinvent Kung Fu. According to PrimeTimer, “two different bodies for this project were launched in recent years at Fox, both featuring a female protagonist. Mega producers Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television was behind both projects, but neither went driver. “
The first attempt at the reunion was with a protagonist named Lucy Chang, a Buddhist monk and kung fu king who traveled to America in the 1950’s in search of a man who kidnapped his child years ago. The second attempt to restart was about a young Chinese-American woman who inherited her father’s kung fu studio, but found it to be a private institution dedicated to helping members of the Chinatown community who had nowhere else to turn. On May 3, 2021, CW revived the series for the second season. On March 22, 2022, CW revived the series for the third season.
