Morbius 2022: One of Marvel’s most compelling and controversial characters comes on the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms himself into a mysterious hero, Michael Morbius. Seriously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others facing the same fate, Drs. Morbius tries to gamble in despair. What at first seems to be a great success soon proves to be far worse than the disease itself.

Morbius is a 2022 American hero film based on Marvel Comics character Morbius, Living Vampire, produced by Columbia Pictures in collaboration with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, the third film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, starring Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, accompanied by Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. In this film, Morbius becomes a living vampire after curing a rare disease.

After announcing plans for a new allocation of Spider-Man-inspired films starring Venom (2018), Sony began making a film based on Morbius. Sazama and Sharpless wrote the script in November 2017, and Leto and Espinosa officially joined in June 2018. The work began in earnest at the end of the year by continuing to imitate, before production began in London in February 2019. Recording was confirmed. completed by June 2019.

Morbius was first shown at Plaza Carso in Mexico City on March 10, 2022, and released in the United States on April 1, 2022, after several delays from the first day of July 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The film has received negative reviews from critics, with many calling it unpopular and the latest and most critical of its central scenes, though Leto and Smith’s play has received some praise. Morbius 2022 Cast

• Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius:
  A scientist suffering from a rare blood disease whose attempts to cure himself afflict him with a form of transgenic vampirism, gaining all of the superhuman abilities but none of the superstitious weaknesses associated with vampires. Leto was drawn to the character’s struggle with his disease and the moral implications of a hero who has a thirst for blood. He found the role surprisingly challenging since it was less character-driven than his prior performances and closer to his real-life personality, not requiring his well-known method acting approach.
  • Charlie Shotwell as young Michael.
• Matt Smith as Milo Morbius:
  Morbius’s surrogate brother, a rich man originally named Lucien who suffers from the same rare blood disease as Michael. When Milo gains the same abilities as Michael, he embraces his identity as a vampire and becomes a villain. Smith was originally announced to play comic book character Loxias Crown / Hunger, but later changed to a significantly different character based on Morbius himself. After previously turning down other superhero film roles, Smith joined the film due to director Daniel Espinosa‘s involvement and encouragement from his Doctor Who castmate Karen Gillan, who portrays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Espinosa encouraged Smith to give a bold, villainous performance.

• Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft: A scientist and Michael’s girlfriend. Arjona said the character was “the smart one in the room” and took inspiration from politician and activist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
• Jared Harris as Dr. Emil Nicholas: A mentor and father figure for Michael and Milo who runs a facility that looks after people with incurable illnesses.
• Al Madrigal as Alberto “Al” Rodriguez: An FBI agent hunting Michael.
• Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud:
  An FBI agent hunting Michael. Gibson noted that the character is white in the comic books, and the producers “made him black” to cast Gibson. While Gibson described Stroud as a “superhero” with a “hi-tech weapons-grade arm” in the film, all scenes featuring this arm were cut. Gibson signed a three-picture deal when he joined the film.

Corey Johnson portrays mercenary Mr. Fox, while Michael Keaton cameos in the mid-credits scenes as Adrian Toomes / Vulture, reprising his role from the MCU film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
