The Princess Weiyoung (Chinese: 锦绣未央; pinyin: Jinxiu Weiyang) is a 2016 Chinese television series starring Tiffany Tang in the title role, alongside Luo Jin, Vanness Wu, Mao Xiaotong and Li Xinai.

Adapted from the novel The Toxic Daughter (Chinese: 庶女有毒) by Qin Jian and is the fictional account of Emperor Wencheng’s reign of Northern Wei and Empress Dowager Feng. The series aired on Dragon TV and Beijing TV from November 11 to December 9th 2016.

The series received mixed reviews. It was praised for its strong structure and fast story and clear characters.

It was also commended for portraying the story of the growth of a strong and independent female leader, as well as compiling the background stories of various supporting characters.

Audience ratings also reached a high of 2%, making it the most limited drama of 2016.

However it was criticized for its sophisticated systems, details of irrational structure, excessive and inappropriate use of cosmetics, and copying of actors’ words.

Investigations and the case have shown that the first novel was written mostly on other similar stories.

However, the series was nominated for a number of awards, winning both actor and actress Luo Jin and Tiffany Tang, as well as the Best Chinese Language Drama Award at the 5th Annual DramaFever Awards.

A series of spin-offs, entitled The Song of Glory, were broadcast in July 2020.

Tiffany Tang (Perfect Couple), world-famous actor Luo Jin, and Vanness Wu (Autumn’s Concerto) star in a love affair prove that revenge is best given when the enemy does not expect it.

Li Wei Young (Tiffany Tang) was born Princess Feng Xin Er, the third daughter of the proud Northern Dynasty Dynasty.

Although he never received the love of his family because he was born on a day that was considered unfortunate, Xin Er has a pure heart and a sharp mind.

One bad night, in a battle that competes with a few others, Xin Er’s empire is shattered.

Fleeing with his life but now orphaned, Xin Er accidentally wanders around in enemy territory.

There, she takes ownership of her savior Li Wei Young, the daughter of a pastor.

Filled with hatred for the enemy that destroyed its empire and lacked the grace of a woman expected in her time, the arrogant Wei Young has trouble getting in.

But, being wise and pure in heart, he eventually learns to direct his hatred toward those. they should not also be a generally kind person.

And it is his intelligence and personality that attracts two very different men. Tuoba Jun (Luo Jin) is a lovely, highly educated, kind prince who is loved by all, including the king, and who loves Wei Young.

And his rival is his younger brother Tuoba Yu (Vanness Wu), a cold, dangerous and emotional scoundrel who really wants to rule the empire, and sees the wise Wei Young as his tool and his older sibling as his rival.

Wei Young, however, has his eyes on only one thing:

he could not save his people. Between the tricks of the two men and living in enemy territory, could Wei Young regain his power?
