OPENING PRAYER: Father, cause my life to radiate Your glory.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leader should remind members, that the only source and giver of life is the Holy Spirit.

MEMORY VERSE: “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16

BIBLE TEXT: Galatians 5:13-24 (KJV)

13 For you, brothers, were called to freedom; only do not use liberty for the opportunity of the flesh, but serve one another in love.

14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware that you are not swallowed up by one another.

16 So I say this: Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 The flesh certainly pleads against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh;

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, impurity, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, sorcery, hatred, diversity, imitation, wrath, strife, rebellion, heresy,

21 Envy, murder, drunkenness, revelry, and such things as I told you before, as I told you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, quietness, goodness, faith,

23 Mildness, temperance, there is no law against such.

24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with affections and lusts.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: We will focus on how to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit as Christians. We receive the Holy Spirit at the point of salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (Ephesians 1:13-14). Therefore, it is impossible to grow spiritually unless you belong to Christ.

TEXT OUTLINE: Galatians 5:19-24

i. God’s breath causes the grave to open and the captives to be set free.
ii. The Spirit of God brings revival from deadness to life.

LESSON 1 OVERVIEW:

WHAT IS FRUIT?

Galatians 5:22-23 – lists the fruits as: Love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, quietness, forbearance, faithfulness, self-control. These are all Christlike virtues that we should display more and more as we relate to God and those around us—family, work, church, neighborhood, in public, etc. They are not somewhere we put on and put away when whether we like it or not.

MEASURE 2. LESSON

HOW TO GROW THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT?

Acknowledge and renounce old sin tendencies through prayer and obedience to God’s Word. Proverbs 28:13
Recognize the fruits of the Spirit and pray sincerely that God will help you begin to manifest them.
Look for opportunities to practice them and trust the Holy Spirit to encourage you.
Expect God to use your life relationships and experiences to grow these fruits in you as you work with Him.
Patiently watch them develop, just like what happens to a seed that needs time to grow and mature. 2 Peter 3:18.

ACTIVITY: Ask members if they exhibit this fruit.

SUMMARY: If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

CONCLUSION: Do you have a gift? Have you used them? Lost and want to get them back? Or do you want more? Why not talk to God about it?

PRAYER POINTS

Father, please create in me a broken heart that can grow Your fruit.
Father, set my life on fire and destroy every manifestation of the flesh.
Father help me grow in love, faith, joy, peace and goodness etc.
Father, circumcise my heart again.
Mention a specific sin that you have struggled with over time and asked God to deliver you from it.
Father, may the fruit of the Spirit always be seen in Your church RCCG.

GOLDEN DIET FOR A WEEK:

MONDAY: “…There is no law against such things”. Galatians 5:22-23

TUESDAY: Thank God for making you a light in the Lord. Ephesians 5:8-9

WEDNESDAY: Your fruit is your identity. Matthew 7:16-17

THURSDAY: Listen faithfully to the voice of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 28:1

FRIDAY: Perseverance and patience is a virtue. Colossians 1:11

SATURDAY: God wants us to bear fruit. Matthew 3:10

SUNDAY: Even Jesus was declared the Son of God by the Spirit of Holiness. Romans 1:3
