There is no need for Abhishek Bachchan to be ‘silent or apologetic’ about the Dasvi trailer. In a short clip, the film touches your heart about Bachchan and his comedy era at the heart of this drama about a corrupt politician who is learning a new lesson in life. D.a.s.v.i also includes Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur in key roles.

D.a.s.v.i’s trailer begins with Abhishek Bachchan’s Ganga Ram Chaudhary, a ‘avi pass’ politician imprisoned for his involvement in the scandal. Nimrat Kaur plays the role of Bimla Devi, Chaudhary’s wife who took over as prime minister while in prison, and Yami Gautam is IPS law enforcement officer Jyoti Deswal who gives Chaudhary a difficult time in prison.

The story of the film, according to the trailer, is about the political life of Chaudhary and his wife Bimla, his time in prison and the circumstances that motivated him to complete his 10th regular education. The trailer also shows his struggle to return to the literature, math and language classes in prison to pass an important exam.

What works in the trailer is a good time for Abhishek Bachchan’s comedy and his encounter with Yami. Nimrat, dissatisfied with being just a wife, now wants to rule the empire. All three characters have their own Jatt symbols on point.

Abhishek Bachchan on Tuesday showed the trailer to the media when he called his role a challenge. He also opened up about how they held workshops with first-time filmmaker Tushar Jalota, the film’s director, to make sure every actor looks and feels as realistic as possible.

Unsurprisingly the composition of the signature music that sounds the same in all Maddock films, the song towards the end of the trailer, yet fun, sounds like that from Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium and English Medium.

Supported by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studios, D.a.s.v.i, directed by first director Tushar Jalota, will begin airing on Netflix and Jio Cinema from April 7th.
