Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has reacted to his nomination for the Ballon d’Or – an award given to the Best Player in the world.
Lookman is one of the 30 players in the running for the award after a season-high performance for club and country.
The winger who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final last season said his nomination for Ballon d’Or award, which would be determined on Monday (tonight) was as a result of his hard work.
Being the only African on the men’s shortlist added even more weight to his achievement, but Lookman said this was just the beginning for him.

“I have achieved great things for club and country. It’s been a defining year in terms of progress and steps taken which I’m very proud of.
“This is just the start. Obviously, great things come with hard work, so, working hard is an important thing to me.”
Meanwhile, Lookman is also in the running for the African Player of the Year award, which will be decided on December 16, 2024 in Morocco.
