Afrobeats Gospel Concert: Over 2,000 Youths Live in 2024
Over 2,000 young people attended a unique Afrobeats Gospel concert held at Lekki Leisure Beach in Lagos State.
The event, which took place on Sunday, featured performances by burgeoning Nigerian ‘Afrogospel’ artists including Spirit of Prophecy, Prinx His Emmanuel and Great Mantakit.
According to a statement provided to The PUNCH on Tuesday, the event’s theme was “AfroRev,” coined from the words “Africa” and “revolution.”
Hosted by Street Church, the event was the second edition of the annual Love and Light Fest.
True to the theme, the event tended to be Africa-centric, with games, fashion, food, and other elements representing Africa. Organizer Tobi Oreoluwa said the event was created to promote faith spread and a healthy party culture in the young Christian community.
He said this year’s edition will focus on the burgeoning musical genre of Afrogospel (a fusion of Afrobeat and gospel music).
Oreoluwa boldly claimed that Afrogospel ruled and was ready to rule the world.
The night was a remarkable one for the youngsters who were blown away by amazing performances by some of the top his acts that will rock the Afrogospel music scene in 2022.
With the Afrobeat wave taking the world by storm, Afrogospel has also become a very important player in this subgenre.
